About US

The Department of Indigenous Development and Social Work promotes Indigenous education through a commitment to three core goals: recognizing the importance of Indigenous education and the educational rights of Indigenous Peoples; facilitating the co-creation of Indigenous ways of knowing, including education, philosophy, and research; and protecting and enhancing Indigenous spiritual beliefs, cultures, and languages through higher education.

Guided by the vision of "grounding in Indigenous development and applying through social work," our department is dedicated to cultivating professionals in ethnic affairs, social work, and research to meet societal needs. We emphasize interdisciplinary learning, integration, and application, offering courses in ethnic relations and culture, public policy, and health. By grounding these courses in the knowledge, culture, and developmental contexts of various ethnic groups, we build a knowledge framework and discourse that supports Indigenous-centered public affairs and culturally safe social work, fostering meaningful contributions to Indigenous communities and the broader society.
