Department of Indigenous development and Social Work at the College of Indigenous Studies, National Dong Hwa University, is the only fully-fledged program in Taiwan dedicated to training professionals in Indigenous development and Indigenous social work. The program structure is comprehensive, offering a Bachelor’s program, Master’s program, and an Executive Master’s program for working professionals.

The Bachelor’s program is divided into two tracks:

"Indigenous Development Track": Focused on public affairs such as ethnic politics and law, education and culture, land and economy, and social welfare. Through a balanced approach of theory and practice, this track guides students to learn professional knowledge of Indigenous development with a critical perspective and encourages active participation in public affairs to promote the rights of Indigenous peoples.

"Social Work Track": With the mission to build professional knowledge and practical skills in "Indigenous social work," this track not only trains students in specialized social work skills but also guides them in understanding the various Indigenous groups in Taiwan’s multicultural society. On a foundation of Indigenous knowledge, students can practice culturally safe social work that respects diverse identities.

Master’s Program: Focused on research themes such as development theory, politics and law, contemporary ethnic relations, Indigenous social work, long-term care, multiculturalism, and Indigenous welfare policy and practice.

Executive Master’s Program in Ethnic Social Work: This is an excellent choice for professionals seeking advanced study, with a deep focus on topics like Indigenous social work, long-term care, multiculturalism, and Indigenous welfare.
